Why should I buy a seat cover for my car?

Holiday season is here and for most that means traveling to visit family and friends. If you are like us, this usually means your dog is coming as well. Whether you are driving 10 hours or 15 minutes you know that given the chance, a pet can quickly destroy a clean back seat. Even so, we sometimes still hear this question, “Why should I buy a seat cover when I can just cover my seat with a sheet or blanket?”

It’s simple. Seat covers are designed to work with your pets and your vehicle – and  well, a sheet is designed ….for your bed…. right? Yes, there are a lot of differences here. Below are some of our favorite reasons to help you understand why it is worth it to have a proper seat cover in your car.

1) A seat cover literally covers your seat and stays put. There are no securing straps or bungee cords when it comes to a sheet or a blanket. Which means Fido jumps in – turns around a few times – digs a few pretend holes for comfort and by the time you realize it your sheet or blanket is pushed off to the side and your pup is directly on the seat.

2) Real seat covers are waterproof.  Whether it is muddy paws or (you can use your imagination here) something worse, you will be pretty sad when you remove your sheet or blanket to find that it has gone straight through to the seat.

3) Design and style. Most covers now offer unique and thoughtful designs to accommodate different travelers and their vehicles. Here are a few. You can use your seat-belts while the cover is in place. Some designs offer a Hammock-like option which helps keep Fido in the back seat and allows for extra dog-free storage space. Some come with extra pockets for storage. Some are designed to be used in other areas of the vehicle. Guessing your sheet can’t do any of that…

4) Warranty. Most companies that really care and stand behind their products have warranties that will resolve issues you might encounter while using your cover. Some even offer a Lifetime Warranty. Again, guessing this is not something your sheet or blanket comes with…
